Registration has begun at all three of our Nebraska UM Camps!  You can visit each site on the web (www.campcomeca.com and www.campfontanelle.com).  You will find links to the registration and health forms below.  Online registration for all programs can be found at www.umcneb.org/register.  The 2008 “Handle with Care” summer brochures should also be available at NE UM churches (contact one of the camps for extra copies).  Register early to get your first choice of the program offerings!  If you have any questions, please contact Comeca at 308-784-2808, Fontanelle at 402-478-4296, or Norwesca at 308-432-3872.

Leave boredom to someone else this summer – come join us in the beauty of the Pine Ridge at Camp Norwesca!  Norwesca is all about fun, friendship, and learning more about who we are as children of God.  Join us for a wonderful journey of playing, s’mores and singing around the campfire, teambuilding, great food, hiking, meeting new friends, the super slide, exploring the Ponderosa forest on a hayrack ride, swimming at Chadron St. Park, archery, cabin life in community, sleeping under the stars, amazing counselors, and so much more – all in the midst of God’s beautiful creation.  Camp Norwesca is truly a unique setting and a destination for you to experience growth in your relationships with God and one another!  We’ll see you at Camp!

SonShine

Welcome to Camp!  Build camp memories with your favorite adult and meet new friends as we share two overnights of camp fun and learn about the love of Jesus together through games, Bible stories, crafts, hiking, s’mores and singing around the campfire, the super slide, a hayrack ride, and more.

DaySpring

Did you love being a Guardian Angel camper but thought it was just too short?  DaySpring is the camp for you!  We will spend three days sharing together as we learn more about who God is and who we are as God’s children.  And of course we’ll stay busy doing all sorts of wonderful and crazy camp stuff, including a hayrack ride, the super slide, and a slumber party in the Lodge.  You are invited, but not required, to bring your favorite adult along for this adventure.

Pack your talents for a week of singing, dancing, acting, and bunches of fun as we honor God with our gifts by preparing a musical drama to be performed at the Chadron United Methodist Church on the last night of camp.  We will also discover more about God’s love through Bible studies and all sorts of other crazy “camp stuff.”  Please register early so we can send you information about the musical.

Pine Ridge Riders

All tenderfoots welcome!  You can learn a lot about yourself atop the saddle of a 1200 pound horse. Grow in your faith while learning the basics of horse riding, grooming, and care.  Then you will be ready for the rugged trails of Chadron State Park.  All this plus a ton of activities at Camp Norwesca will make this a busy and wonderful week of Old West fun.

What does it mean to follow Christ when our lives are full of media and peer pressure?  We will explore how to live distinctive Christian lives as daughters of the King of Kings!  Join us for the journey as we build strong, trusting relationships, spend a night camping at an outpost, sing and eat s’mores around the fire, have a pedicure party, eat breakfast-in-bed, swim, hike, learn teambuilding, archery, crafts, and other adventures.

Saddle Up and Ride

Saddle up and ride for some real flavor of the Old West!  Grow in your faith while learning about horse riding, grooming and care.  Ride the rugged trails of Chadron State Park and to the top of the butte at Fort Robinson.  Hike and stay overnight at an outpost camp.  Participate in games, teambuilding, singing and s’mores around the campfire, archery, and more.

Backpacking the Pine Ridge

Journey into the wilderness and experience the peacefulness and beauty of God’s creation as we grow in relationship with God and one another!  Hike through the rugged Pine Ridge District of the Nebraska National Forest as we spend one night on the trail.  We will provide the basics: food, packs, tents, and amazing guides.  You provide a sleeping bag and mat, personal gear appropriate for the climate, good hiking boots (make sure to break them in first), and a willingness for the challenge.  6-12 campers.

Camp Hope

We all have challenges in our lives.  This is your chance to break from your normal routine and enjoy time with God and friends in the Pine Ridge.  Camp Hope is intended for youth and adult campers with developmental challenges.  Join old and new friends for games, Bible study, crafts, s’mores and singing around the campfire, and more.  Each camper is encouraged to invite a buddy to accompany and support them while participating in all the fun.

Volunteers in Mission

Youth or adult groups welcome!  Make Camp Norwesca your base for a custom designed program week of Christian service.  Grow in your faith, build relationships, and learn the value of teamwork as you follow Christ’s call to serve others.  Groups can choose from a variety of projects around Camp Norwesca, the Nebraska National Forest, and the Chadron community.  (Groups must provide their own transportation for off-site field trips.)

CIT

Come and be a Counselor-In-Training!  Get an introduction to the experience being on staff by assisting and learning from the Norwesca staff.  You will have a blast alongside the campers you are helping to lead.  CIT’s are at least 16 years old, have completed 9th grade, have prior Safe Sanctuaries training, and have a written recommendation from their pastor.

Volunteer Counselors

You must be willing to enjoy a wonderful week with youth!  You will eat, sleep, and play with campers, share your faith, and have an amazing time.  Volunteer counselors are at least 18 years old, graduated from high school, and at least 5 years older than the campers.  Prior Safe Sanctuaries training required.  Counselors receive a full scholarship for the week.
