Brandi May
Camp Director
Hello! I’m Brandi May, the Director of Camp Norwesca. Originally from Omaha, NE, and raised in South Central Nebraska, I pursued my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K–8) at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. My journey brought me to the Chadron, NE area in the fall of 2017 when my husband became the assistant superintendent at Chadron State Park. Before moving, we lived at Windmill State Recreation Area, just east of Kearney.

I joined Camp Norwesca in 2018 as a part-time office assistant while also substitute teaching in local schools. By the fall of 2020, I was promoted to assistant director, and in March 2022, I was honored to become the Director.

Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my husband and our growing family. In January 2026, we were overjoyed to welcome our daughter, Jayla, into the world, joining her big brother Timothy. I love traveling, baking, fishing, and gardening. When I’m not at camp, you’ll likely find me in my garden, accompanied by my loyal dogs, or planning our annual escape to Florida to avoid the snow.

My passion for God and the outdoors was nurtured at Camp Carol Joy Holling (NLOM) during my childhood and teenage years. This experience deeply connected my faith with my love for nature. I am thrilled about this chapter at Camp Norwesca, where I continue to integrate my passion for teaching with my commitment to fostering spiritual growth and a love for the outdoors.

Anne
Kitchen Manager
Hello! My name is Anne. I am the kitchen manager here at Camp Norwesca. This is my eighth year being part of the staff.

Vanessa
Kitchen Assistant
Hi, I'm Vanessa! I’m passionate about cooking, especially Asian cuisine, and I love exploring new flavors and dishes. In my downtime, you can usually find me at home, relaxing and enjoying some much-needed rest, or spending quality time with my daughter.

Lydia
Office Admin.
My name is Lydia Peters, and I am from Sidney, NE. At home, I have three younger sisters and a cat named Sweetheart. I am attending CSC and am a senior. I do not know exactly what I want to do immediately following graduation, but my long-term goal is to be an overseas missionary. I would love to go to the 10/40 Window and do ministry with children, families, or anything to help people. When I am not in school, I enjoy running, cooking, journaling, baking, anything outdoors, and hanging out with people.

Dale
Maintenance
I’m Dale. I’m from Gibbon, NE.
I plan to go to Chadron State College for wildlife range land management. I’m coming to Camp Norwesca because I believe it’s a good opportunity to not only get to know the Chadron area but to also rekindle my faith. I split my time between camp and working on the maintenance crew and night security at Chadron State Park.

Devon
Counselor & Maintenance
Hi there! My name's Devon; and I'll be coming back to Camp Norwesca as a Counselor! This will be my third year here, and I can't wait to meet new people and make some great new memories! I was born in Lincoln, but have lived in Chadron since 2005. Hobby-wise, I love hiking, camping, kayaking, arts and crafts, and tabletop games. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all, and to help show off everything that makes this area and community so amazing! See you soon!

Abigail
Counselor
Hi! I’m Abigail Mathson. I’m 21 years old and heading into my third year at Camp Norwesca. I started as a Kitchen Assistant, then served as Program Staff, and now I’m excited to be stepping into the role of Counselor!
I can’t wait to see both new and familiar faces this summer as I continue growing and becoming the best counselor I can be. When I’m not in Chadron at camp, I’m back in my hometown of Scottsbluff, working as a SPED para at ESU 13.
I love spending time outdoors and enjoying nature just as God created it.
Here’s to Summer Camp 2026—let’s bring on the fun!
