Camp Norwesca Activities

Archery @ Camp Norwesca
​
Archery at Camp Norwesca is a seasonal activity led by trained, certified camp staff. Campers learn the basics of archery, including safety, proper technique, and target practice, in a fun and supportive environment. This activity is available during summer camp and select retreats. The equipment is maintained by the camp staff, and it is ready to be set up for your group.
$60 per hour (5 person minimum.

Super Slide @ Camp Norwesca
​
Camp Norwesca’s Super Slide is a seasonal favorite, available during summer camp and select events. Led by camp staff and lifeguards, this exciting, 200 foot-long slide sends campers zooming down the hill for a thrilling ride. Safe, fun, and full of excitement, the Super Slide is a must-try adventure at camp!
$80 per hour (10 person minimum)

Low Ropes Course @ Camp Norwesca

Camp Norwesca’s Low Ropes Course is a seasonal team-building adventure led by trained, certified staff. Designed to promote teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, the course challenges campers to work together to navigate obstacles and complete activities. It’s a fun and rewarding way to build confidence and strengthen friendships in the great outdoors! The equipment is maintained by the camp staff, and it is ready to be set up for your group.
$100 per hour (10 person minimum).

Camp Norwesca offers a variety of outdoor games, including Volleyball, 9 Square in the Air, Gaga Ball, Half-Court Basketball, and Tetherball. These activities are available for groups when weather permits, providing fun and active ways to enjoy the outdoors while building teamwork and friendly competition.

Campfire @ Camp Norwesca
For many, the campfire experience is one of the most powerful and meaningful times at camp. There are lots of campfires to choose from. Roasting Sticks and firewood provided free of charge.

Winter Activities @ Camp Norwesca
Sledding at Camp Norwesca is a favorite winter activity! When the snow falls, campers and guests can enjoy thrilling rides down the hill, racing their friends for a fun-filled outdoor experience. It’s the perfect way to embrace the winter season at camp!

Hiking @ Camp Norwesca
Hiking at Camp Norwesca offers beautiful trails that connect to both Chadron State Park and the Nebraska National Forest. These scenic routes provide a chance to explore the natural beauty of the area, from wooded paths to open vistas. Hikers can enjoy diverse landscapes while taking in views of the surrounding park and forest, making it an ideal activity for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels.

Chadron State Park Activities
Located 1 mile from Camp Norwesca, with connecting trails and road, Nebraska’s first state park, Chadron State Park was founded in 1921 and is nestled among the distinctive buttes and canyons of Nebraska’s Pine Ridge. Since its founding a century ago, it’s remained a popular spot for camping, family reunions and old-fashioned vacations where guests can escape and enjoy spending time in one of the state’s most famous landscapes. All activities for Chadron State Park must be inquired and reserved through Chadron State Park, either via their office in person or by calling (308)-432-6167. All visitors must purchase a Nebraska Vehicle Permit for park entry and use.

Horseback Riding @ Chadron State Park
Discover the beauty of Chadron State Park on a guided horseback trail ride! Open to visitors ages 6 and up, these rides are available from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with limited hours starting in mid-August. For details or to book your ride, call the park at (308) 432-6167.
Swimming Pool @ Chadron State Park
Chadron State Park’s swimming pool offers visitors a beautiful view overlooking the pines. Lifeguards on duty.

Hiking & Mountain Biking @ Chadron State Park
Chadron State Park is an ideal spot for hikers and mountain bikers alike. The park and nearby Forest Service lands offer a variety of trails for all skill levels. With ten miles of trails within the park and over 100 miles of scenic trails and old roads in the adjacent Nebraska National Forest, there’s something for every hiker and biker to enjoy.​

Paddleboats @ Chadron State Park
Rent a 4-person paddleboat for 30 minutes at the park pond (seasonally) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
$6 for a two-person vessel or $8 for four-person per half hour.

Indoor Archery, Pellet Guns and Tomahawks @ Chadron State Park
Located between the park's office and the Trading Post activities center, the 3,100-square-foot shooting complex features both 3-D and bulls-eye archery targets, as well as a five-station pellet gun range with an automated interactive shooting gallery.
All equipment is provided, and the facility is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer season.

Hunting @ Chadron State Park
Archery deer hunting in season is allowed in designated areas. Please call the park office for details. All archery hunters must register at the park office.
Hunting is available on the thousands of acres of National Forest land and state wildlife management areas adjacent to the park. Hunters also may find deer, turkey, sharp-tailed grouse, elk, antelope, Dove and pheasant on land near the park.

Trading Post @ Chadron State Park
The Trading Post has a craft center, snack bar, gift shop, equipment rentals and more. It is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with reduced hours beginning in mid-August.

Sports Field @ Chadron State Park
Volleyball, basketball, baseball, pickleball and tennis courts are located at the sports field.
